that the more than 100,000 seats you see today at Dover International Speedway were not always there? The first race at the Monster Mile, the July 6, 1969 "Mason Dixon 300," was run in front of a crowd of just more than 10,000 people. As the sport and its popularity grew, Dover needed to make room to accommodate all of the new faces making their way in on race weekend. In 1986, a modest 3,200 seats were added to the track, and were continuously added upon over the next 15 years, reaching close to 140,000 seats at its height. With a new seat-widening plan in action now at the Monster Mile, capacity will be approximately 113,000 seats by 2014.

Tickets are available for the June 1-3, 2012 race weekend, including the June 3 "FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks" NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, the June 2 "5-hour ENERGY 200" NASCAR Nationwide Series race and the June 1 "Lucas Oil 200" NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.
