When drivers wreck, crew members are injured or fans have mishaps on race weekend at Dover International Speedway, Bayhealth Medical Center is always there to step up and help.
Bayhealth Medical Center serves the NASCAR community on race weekends, assisting the droves of visitors, the race teams and drivers that come to town over the course of our three-day, event weekend, and this Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2011 race weekend will be no different.
Both the infield care center inside Turn 4 and the fan care center outside of Gate 1 are serviced by Bayhealth Medical Center staff. Bayhealth also serves the community and surrounding areas throughout the entire year.
Bayhealth Medical Center is comprised of Kent General Hospital, Milford Memorial Hospital and numerous satellite facilities. The Bayhealth Medical Center Cancer Institute is dedicated to providing world class cancer care in partnership with the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, and is also a leading resource in the community.
Bayhealth provides 24-hour care in its Emergency and Trauma Services Departments at Kent General Hospital in Dover and Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford. Bayhealth treats trauma cases from throughout the region and specialists may be called at any time for emergency surgery, to evaluate complicated cases or to admit patients. In the 2010 fiscal year, Bayhealth recorded 78,601 emergency department visits.
In addition, Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital will soon complete a 400,000-square-foot, 7 million expansion to include a new state-of-the-art Emergency Department. The expansion will open in 2012.
