Dover International Speedway creates auction package to benefit Al Robinson

DOVER, Del. – Dover International Speedway is creating a special June 3, 2012 auction package to benefit former Public Relations Director Al Robinson. The all-inclusive package includes:

  • (2) passes to the Dover Motorsports, Inc. luxury suite on Sunday, June 3
  • (2) pit passes for Sunday, June 3
  • An overnight stay at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Sunday, June 3
  • Complimentary breakfast buffet on Monday, June 4
  • A Monster Racing four-lap ride package on Monday, June 4

To participate in the online auction visit http://bit.ly/DoverMonster. The auction ends on May 14, 2012.

Robinson has been involved in racing for more than 40 years in various capacities and served as public relations director at Dover International Speedway for more than a decade. On May 11, 2011, Al suffered a debilitating stroke which has left him in need of 24-hour care. Confined to Elderwood Care Facility in Waverly, N.Y., he has been working hard through physical therapy, but still has a long way to go.

Due to mounting medical costs, Robinson is now facing a significant financial hardship. A group of Robinson’s friends have come together to create a family oriented event on May 11-12, 2012 at Shangri-La II Motorspeedway in Tioga Center, N.Y. All proceeds from the event will go to Robinson.

Planned events include a track walk, pace car rides, kid’s activities, a bon-fire, race memorabilia auctions, show car displays and much more. A special section with more information about the event has been added to www.shangrila-2.com, the track’s website, under the schedule tab.

Monetary donations for Robinson may be sent by check to The Spalding Foundation, c/o Betty Sherwood, 1074 Sulpher Springs Road, Owego, N.Y., 13827. Please write “Al Robinson Fund” on the comment line. All money and check donations specified for the Al Robinson Fund will go to Al Robinson.
