Erik Jones sets XFINITY Series track record, earns “Drive Sober 200” pole

Erik Jones set a track record with a lap of 158.318 mph in an abbreviated qualifying session for the “Drive Sober 200” presented by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety NASCAR XFINITY Series race on Saturday at Dover International Speedway. The race will take the green flag at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Jones, an XFINITY Series rookie who won the spring XFINITY Series race at the Monster Mile completed the one-mile lap in 22.739 seconds during the 20-minute qualifying session. The remaining two rounds of qualifying were canceled after mist and a light shower hit the track.

Jones is a Chase for the XFINITY Series championship contender. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stars Kyle Busch and Joey Logano will start second and third, respectively, while Alex Bowman and Daniel Suarez complete the top five.
