Fan activities at the track for May 29-31, 2015 race weekend

NASCAR returns to Dover International Speedway for a tripleheader weekend full of thrills on May 29-31, 2015!

As die-hard race fans know, the excitement does not just happen on the track, as you can easily find entertainment outside the oval all weekend long! With the return of free fan areas like the FanZone and Monster FunZone, as well as numerous autograph sessions, free concerts and more. You don’t want to miss a second of the fun that will take place here at Dover International Speedway!

Frankie’s Café at the Monster Mile

Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will again present Frankie’s Café at the Monster Mile, a Tuscan-style café with the flavor and atmosphere of its Frankie’s Wine Bar and Italian Restaurant during race weekend. The café offers race fans a variety of menu options in an al fresco setting, features two fully-stocked bars and is located outside near the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza.

Saturday, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday, 7 a.m. – open until the end of the race

FanZone

Free, interactive displays will be set up in the FanZone, featuring games, free sampling, live music and more. Some focal points include a number of partners such as: AAA, M&T Bank, Lucas Oil, Delaware Office of Highway Safety, New Holland, ACME, Camping World, XFINITY, NASCAR Foundation, Big Barrel Country Music Festival, Power Home Remodeling Group, Budweiser Brew Masters Tour, Bluegreen Vacations Unlimited, ditech, Precision AirConvey and more!

Be sure to also stop by the table featuring our new youth initiative, Monster Mile Youth Nation, also located in the FanZone!

The FanZone is open Friday from to 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., on Saturday from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Smithfield Whole Hog Challenge

Have a big appetite? Then be sure to participate in the Smithfield Whole Hog Challenge, a season-long amateur eating competition where race fans across the country can test their speed-eating abilities for the chance to compete at the ultimate eating showdown in Homestead this November! The seventh leg of the contest will be taking place here at Dover International Speedway at the Smithfield display in the FanZone, where contestants will be given the opportunity to test their competitive eating skills with Smithfield bacon and ribs.

Eight contestants will be selected to take part in a five-minute challenge of cleaning their plates the fastest. The winner of each eating contest will also receive a stock car ride-along courtesy of Richard Petty Driving Experience, and the ultimate winner of the challenge will receive a Richard Petty-autographed Richard Petty Motorsports firesuit and a trip to see the Daytona 500 in February 2016!

Fans can sign up to participate at the Smithfield display on Friday and Saturday, and eight contestants will be randomly drawn and notified on Saturday evening. “The King” Richard Petty and driver of the No. 43 Ford Aric Almirola will serve as judges for the rib-eating contest on Sunday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at the Smithfield display in the Dover FanZone. Don’t miss it!

Time: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Larson will make an appearance at a local Target store on Thursday evening. The address of the store is: 148 John Hunn Brown Rd., Dover, DE.

Jennifer Jo Cobb appearance at local Applebee’s

Time: 7:00 p.m.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Jennifer Jo Cobb will make an appearance at a local Applebee’s restaurant on Thursday evening. The address for the restaurant is: 909 N Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE.

Joe and Jon Hunter Nemechek autograph signing at Colonnade Marketplace

Time: 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers and father-and-son racing duo Joe and John Hunter Nemechek will make an appearance together at Colonnade Marketplace on Thursday evening. Colonnade Marketplace is located inside Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

FREE NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session

Time: 2:15

Drivers will be announced here as they are confirmed. Only the first 150 fans will be granted an autograph. Wristbands will be distributed in front of the Lucas Oil Display at noon.

Elliott Sadler appearance at OneMain Financial Branch

Time: 4:30 p.m.

NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Elliott Sadler will make an appearance at OneMain Financial Branch with his show car on Friday evening. The address of OneMain Financial Branch is: 1057 N Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901.

“Lucas Oil 200” NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race

Time: 5:30 p.m.

Drivers of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will look to show they have what it takes to become champions of their sport in a Friday afternoon battle. Don’t miss the chance to see some of the future stars of racing in an exciting showdown to help kick off this special weekend!

Ty Dillon appearance at Buffalo Wild Wings

Time: 6:30 p.m.

NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Ty Dillon will make an appearance at a local Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant on Friday evening. The address for the restaurant is: 540 W. Main Street, Middletown, Del.

Open Track Session:

Time: 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

Do you want the special chance to walk on the Monster Mile? Then make sure you join us on the front-stretch of the track on Saturday morning for our Open Track Session! NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers Jeremy Clements and Blake Koch will both be on-hand to participate in a Question-and-Answer session near the start-finish line at 9 a.m. Erik Jones will also make an appearance at 9:15 a.m. Upon exiting, be sure to have your ticket rescanned to permit entrance to the grandstands later in the day. Entrance is located at Gates 19/20. A ticket to Saturday’s race is required.

Free concert by Megan Rüger

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Megan Rüger is a 27 year old pop/rock artist who is originally from Twin Lakes, Wis. She moved to Nashville at the age of 20, with the goal of creating a name for herself in “The Music City.” She started playing on Broadway, covering the likes of Patsy Cline, Guns N’ Roses, Carrie Underwood and Pat Benatar. With the combination of her rockin’ stage antics, powerful voice, and big personality, she will keep you on your feet! She found her niche in 80’s & 90’s rock but also enjoys putting her unique twist on Top 40 Hits.

She appeared as a contestant on the popular TV show, “The Voice,” and just recently co-wrote a track with Jeff McCool (country-rapper from Moccasin Creek). She is currently recording songs written by Debbie Gibson, Fred Coury (of Cinderella), Peter Amato (music programmer from “The Voice”) and working with producers Gary Corbett and Glenn Rosenstein. She will be performing with her band to help kick off another exciting day of racing and festivities here at Dover International Speedway!

David Starr appearance at the FanZone

Time: 9:30 a.m.

No. 44 NASCAR XFINITY Series driver David Starr will be at the DE Office of Highway Safety Display in the FanZone before the race!

Dash 4 Cash NASCAR XFINITY Series driver autograph session:

Time: 9:30 a.m.

Drivers from the NASCAR XFINITY Series will participate in FREE Dash 4 Cash fan autograph session on Saturday, May 30 at 9:30 a.m. in the XFINITY display in the FanZone. Wristbands will be distributed at 8 a.m. to the first 150 people, and will be distributed to fans on a first-come, first-served basis. Regan Smith, Darrell Wallace Jr., Daniel Suarez and Ty Dillon are scheduled to appear. Each of the 150 fans will be able to collect one autograph per driver. Schedule and driver availability subject to change.

Jeremy Clements appearance at FanZone

Time: 10:00 a.m.

No. 51 NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Jeremy Clements will be at the DE Office of Highway Safety Display in the FanZone before the race!

Q&A at the Monster Monument with XFINITY Series driver CJ Faison

Time: 1:15 p.m.

Get the chance to participate in a free Q&A session featuring NASCAR XFINITY Series driver CJ Faison located on the Monster Monument. Faison will be making his NASCAR XFINITY Series debut at the Monster Mile later on Saturday! This event will be emceed by television and radio personality Riki Rachtman.

National Anthem performance by Megan Rüger

Megan Rüger will perform the National Anthem before Saturday’s “Buckle Up 200” presented by Click It or Ticket NASCAR XFINITY Series race. Rüger, a former contestant on NBC’s “The Voice,” started her career on Broadway. She is known for covering popular 80’s and 90’s rock songs, as well as Top 40 Hits, with her own unique style.

Time: 2:30 p.m.

The fun continues on Saturday afternoon when some of the most promising young racers in driving compete in the “Buckle Up 200” presented by Click It or Ticket NASCAR XFINITY Series race. Get the opportunity to watch drivers such as Ty Dillon, Chase Buescher, and Chase Elliott battle in an exciting showdown featuring a mix of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regulars and prospects on the rise who are hoping to make their mark with the help of a crucial victory.

Almost Easy performance on the Victory Plaza stage

Time: 4:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Cover band Almost Easy will play some of music’s most popular tracks on the Victory Plaza stage after Saturday’s race. Their versatile musical catalog has songs everyone has heard before, and their passion and infectious energy will have you up on your feet as they perform their own unique take on some of music’s greatest hits! 11th Annual Track Walk to Support The NASCAR Foundation and Autism Speaks

Time: 5:20 p.m.

Dover International Speedway will once again host a track walk to benefit The NASCAR Foundation and Autism Speaks immediately following the “Buckle Up 200” presented by Click It or Ticket NASCAR XFINITY Series race on Saturday, May 30, 2015.

This fun event provides fans with the exclusive opportunity to raise money for two worthy organizations by walking or running the entire one-mile, concrete track. The walk will begin at 5:20 p.m. at the Monster Monument with a brief kickoff Q&A with Denny Hamlin, hosted by Riki Rachtman.

Fans of all ages can register now at NASCARFoundation.org.  Advance registration costs $20 for adults and $25 at the track on race weekend. Children ages 14 and younger can register for just $10. On-site registration will be held on Friday and Saturday at The NASCAR Foundation display in the FanZone, located just outside Turn 4 of the track.

Fireworks in RV Lots:

Time: 9:00 p.m.

Following a full day of racing, Saturday will conclude with a fireworks display in the Monster Mile’s RV Lots. The show should be easily seen from most areas of the Monster Mile property.

Ease Your Admission Reminder

The easiest way to beat the rush into the grandstands is to get there before the crowds do! Arriving early will allow you to settle into your seat to enjoy the pre-race festivities before the race begins. We suggest that fans head to the gates approx. an hour or more before race time to avoid lines as people progress through the admission process.

No. 7 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Alex Bowman and NASCAR Sprint Cup team owner Tommy Baldwin will both be at the DE Office of Highway Safety in the FanZone before the race!

Dover International Speedway Tweet-Up with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Larson

Time: 9:45 a.m.

Social media fans will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face on Sunday morning on the brick-lined pathway between the parking lots and the south entrance to the FanZone. Kyle Larson will make an appearance and will give away some Dover merchandise! Members of the media including Jeff Gluck from USA TODAY and Bob Pockrass from ESPN.com will also be there. Aric Almirola autograph session

Time: 9:45 – 9:55 a.m.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Aric Almirola will sign autographs outside of his souvenir hauler on Sunday morning. Only 75 tickets are available. Tickets are available with a minimum $25 Aric Almirola purchase.

Performance by the Rolling Thunder Drumline

Time: 10 a.m.

The Rolling Thunder Drumline will perform in Victory Plaza before the “FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday morning!

Danica Patrick, driver of the No. 10 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Ford in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, will both appear in the Monster Mile Club Sunday morning before the “FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race as part of a pre-sold package. Each driver will discuss their careers, driving at Dover International Speedway and much more when they make their separate appearances in the Monster Mile Club, a hospitality package that can be added to any ticket to the Sunday, May 31 race at Dover International Speedway!

FREE country concert by Jerrod Niemann in the Victory Plaza stage

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Country music artist Jerrod Niemann is set to perform a free concert for fans before the big Sunday race! Niemann is best known for his 2013 platinum-certified No. 1 smash hit “Drink to That All Night” off his most recent album, “High Noon.” He has toured with the likes of Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban during his young career, and has also received award nominations from the CMA, CMT and the American Country Awards. Race fans are in for a treat with one of country music’s rising stars ready to rock the stage at Dover!
