Fan activities at the track for May 31-June 2, 2013 race weekend

When NASCAR comes to Dover International Speedway on May 31-June 2 for the first of two tripleheader weekends in 2013, fans know that they are going to see some of the best action in all of racing on the one-mile, concrete oval. But they also know that the action at the Monster Mile goes far beyond the track!

Race weekend isn’t just about racing…it’s about community, and a collection of the best sports fans in the world coming together for a weekend-long party in the capital of the First State. Throughout the weekend, fans will find no shortage of fun off the track in areas like the FanZone and Monster FunZone, and with a full docket of driver appearances and autograph sessions, free concerts and more, you’ll never be bored when NASCAR comes to Dover!

Frankie’s Café at the Monster Mile

Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will again present Frankie’s Café at the Monster Mile, a Tuscan-style café with the flavor and atmosphere of its Frankie’s Wine Bar and Italian Restaurant during race weekend. The café offers race fans a variety of menu options in an al fresco setting, and is located outside near the Monster Monument, presented by AAA, in Victory Plaza.

FanZone

Free interactive displays will be set up in the FanZone, featuring a number of partners, including: 5-Hour Energy, AAA, Bluegreen Vacations, Camping World, Chase, Delaware Office of Highway Safety, GM, Lowe’s, Lucas Oil, M&T Bank, New Holland, Margaritaville, Power Home Remodeling Group, Rusty Wallace Racing Experience (GoKarts), SPEED, Sprint and more.

Special car unveiling and press conference with Richard Petty Motorsports

Time: 9:30 a.m.

Richard Petty Motorsports will hold a special car unveiling in front of the Monster Monument, presented by AAA, in Victory Plaza, followed by a brief press conference that is FREE and open to the public.

FREE autograph session with Richard Petty, Marcos Ambrose and Aric Almirola

Time: 9:45-10:15 a.m.

Following the Richard Petty Motorsports special car unveiling and press conference, seven-time Dover winner Richard Petty, along with RPM drivers Marcos Ambrose and Aric Almirola, will participate in a FREE autograph session for fans at the Monster Monument, presented by AAA, in Victory Plaza. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as autographs will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, and only 100 autograph session passes are available. So get in line early!

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series FREE Autograph Session

Time: 1:30-2:15 p.m.

The drivers of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will meet with fans for a FREE autograph session from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. at the Lucas Oil display in the FanZone, located just outside Turn 4 of the track. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as autographs will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmed drivers for the autograph session include James Buescher, Darrell Wallace Jr., Brendan Gaughan, Joey Coulter, Miguel Paludo, Jeb Burton and more. More drivers will be added in the coming days. Check back for updates!

Elliot Sadler appearance at OneMain Financial, 1057 N. DuPont Highway, Dover

Time: 4 p.m.

Lucas Oil 200” NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race

Time: 5 p.m.

A mix of young, up-and-coming stars like Ty Dillon and James Buescher, will battle with wily veterans such as Ron Hornaday Jr. for 200 laps of action in the “Lucas Oil 200” NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. In 13 years of competing at the Monster Mile, this series has only seen one repeat winner, so there is a good chance fans will see a fresh face claim his or her first Monster Trophy by day’s end in Sunoco Victory Lane.

SATURDAY, June 1

5-hour ENERGY Open Track Session for NASCAR Nationwide Series ticket holders, featuring a Q&A with Clint Bowyer and Michael Waltrip, hosted by Riki Rachtman

Time: 8:30-9:30 a.m.

Ticketholders for the June 1 “5-hour ENERGY 200” NASCAR Nationwide Series race will have the opportunity to walk the frontstretch of the Monster Mile the morning of the race, getting to walk and stand where the drivers will be banging fenders all weekend. As a bonus, Clint Bowyer, driver of the No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota, and his team owner Michael Waltrip will participate in an exclusive question-and-answer session for fans at the start-finish line at 9 a.m. Fans can enter at Gate 18 by presenting their ticket, which will be rescanned on the way out so it permits entrance to the race later that day.

Live music from singer-songwriter Tyler Toliver on the Victory Plaza Stage

Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Before performing the National Anthem later in the day for the “5-hour ENERGY 200” NASCAR Nationwide Series race, singer-songwriter Tyler Toliver will perform a FREE concert for race fans, bringing his original material to the Victory Plaza stage.

Monster FunZone

Time: 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Located outside of Turn 4 near the Monster Monument, presented by AAA, at Victory Plaza, this popular, family friendly section provides free admission and loads of fun. Some attractions include racing simulators, face painting, prize drawings, moon bounces, show car displays, interactive games and rock climbing, just to name a few!

NASCAR Trackside” on the SPEED stage

Time: Noon-1 p.m.

“NASCAR Trackside,” hosted by Krista Voda with assistance from Kyle Petty, Rutledge Wood and Kaitlyn Vincie, is SPEED’s at-track version of a variety talk show. You never know what’s coming next with “Trackside.” Whether it’s driver interviews, games, skits, spoofs, chats with drivers’ wives and children, or celebrities on-hand for the weekend, it’s always a party on “Trackside,” where showcasing driver personalities is priority one. The program makes viewers part of the show with frequent social media integration as Vincie and the gang peruse Twitter for viewer interaction. Fans at the Monster Mile can be part of the show, , as “Trackside” is broadcast live from the SPEED stage in the FanZone, just outside Turn 4!

5-hour ENERGY 200” NASCAR Nationwide Series race

Time: 2:30 p.m.

Fans get the best of both worlds on Saturday at the Monster Mile, as the drivers of the NASCAR Nationwide Series tangle with stars from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the “5-hour ENERGY 200” NASCAR Nationwide Series race. This is a chance for the Nationwide regulars to prove they can hang with the best the sport has to offer, and try to earn the coveted promotion to NASCAR’s top series.

NASCAR Unites Track Walk, benefiting Autism Speaks and The NASCAR Foundation, including a FREE kick-off Q&A with Brad Keselowski

Time: Approximately 5:30 p.m.

Following the “5-hour ENERGY 200” NASCAR Nationwide Series race, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Brad Keselowski will kick off the NASCAR Unities Track Walk, benefiting Autism Speaks and The NASCAR Foundation, from atop the Monster Monument, presented by AAA, in Victory Plaza. The walk will head inside the Monster Mile and proceed to make a lap around the track. Registration is $20 for adults, $10 for ages 14 and younger. Fans can register in advance by clicking here, or on-site at The NASCAR Foundation display in the FanZone.

Event to benefit Delaware Food Bank, featuring a FREE Q&A with Jeff Gordon

Time: 7-10 a.m.

Chase Card Services, for the second straight Dover race weekend, will host a meal packing event to benefit older Delawareans in need from 7 to 10 a.m. in the FanZone. Approximately 18,000 meals will be assembled into 1,000 meal boxes and delivered to the Food Bank of Delaware following the race, then distributed to older Delawareans who often have to make a choice between spending limited funds on food or other critical needs, like medicine or housing expenses. As an incentive, the first 300 fans to show up and participate will have access to a FREE, exclusive question-and-answer session with Jeff Gordon at 10 a.m., who will carry AARP Credit Cards from Chase as the primary sponsor on his No. 24 Chevrolet at the Monster Mile. Jimmie Johnson will drop by the Lowe’s Build and Grow display in the FanZone to help kids in attendance assemble the “Monsters University” Build and Grow cars, as well as host a kids-oriented question-and-answer session. The display, open all race weekend, will give kids the opportunity to get involved by visiting the Monsters University Admissions Tent. There, kids will receive a Monsters University Student ID Badge for an opportunity to assemble a special edition Lowe’s Build and Grow project of Johnson’s “Monsters University” racecar. The five-time champion will be sporting a special paint scheme for the Dover race weekend, with characters from Disney-Pixar’s “Monster’s University,” in theatures in 3D on June 21, 2013, on the hood of his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet.

Q&A with Mark Martin at the AAA Experience Display

Time: 10:25 a.m.

FREE concert with country music trio Gloriana on the Victory Plaza stage

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Award-winning country music trio Gloriana will rock the Victory Plaza stage the morning of the “FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks” with a FREE concert that is sure to hype fans up for the action on the track. Following their performance, the group will head inside the track to perform the “Star Spangled Banner” for that day’s race.

NASCAR RaceDay” live on the SPEED stage

Time: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The energetic and highly popular program airs live from the SPEED stage in the Monster Mile’s FanZone. John Roberts hosts alongside Kyle Petty, Kenny Wallace and Larry McReynolds, while Wendy Venturini, Rutledge Wood and Matt Clark report the latest from the garage and pit road. “NASCAR RaceDay” leaves no stone unturned, revving up for the day’s race with live driver interviews, features and entertaining, off-the-wall segments. Race fans and drivers count on the show to get them ready for the big race, bringing them the inside story and up-to-the-minute news in a lighthearted and fun manner.

FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race

Time: 1 p.m.

The main event of Dover’s tripleheader weekend, the “FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race pits the top drivers in the sport against each other for 400 miles of edge-of-your-seat action. Jimmie Johnson, whose seven wins at the Monster Mile is tied with Richard Petty and Bobby Allison for most all time, is looking to claim that mark for himself with his eighth Dover win. He’ll have to get past Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the rest of the field to accomplish that goal, however.
