Fan activities at the track for Sept. 26-28, 2014 race weekend

NASCAR returns to Dover International Speedway for a tripleheader weekend of Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup action on Sept. 26-28, 2014! The changes to the Chase format has the Monster Mile serving as the first-ever “knockout race” in the playoff format, which means for four drivers, it’s over in Dover!

But the fun of race weekend doesn’t just happen on the track, as fans can find entertainment outside the oval all weekend long. With free fan areas like the FanZone and Monster FunZone, not to mention numerous autograph sessions, free concerts and more, you don’t want to miss a second of race weekend at Dover!

Frankie’s Café at the Monster Mile

Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will again present Frankie’s Café at the Monster Mile, a Tuscan-style café with the flavor and atmosphere of its Frankie’s Wine Bar and Italian Restaurant during race weekend. The café offers race fans a variety of menu options in an al fresco setting, features two fully-stocked bars and is located outside near the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza.

Free, interactive displays will be set up in the FanZone, featuring games, free sampling, live music and more. Some focal points include a number of partners such as: The Sprint Experience, AAA, Lucas Oil, Delaware Office of Highway Safety, the USO Military Village, 3M, New Holland, Camping World, 5-hour ENERGY, M&T Bank, Dunkin Donuts, U.S. Air Force, ACME Markets, Monster Energy, National Guard, Power Home Remodeling Group, Bluegreen Vacations, Monster Racing Excitement and more!

The FanZone is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26; 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27; and 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28.

NASCAR Hauler Showcase & Parade

Time: 4-6 p.m. (Parade begins at 6 p.m.)

Fans are invited to the Blue Hen Corporate Center, located at 655 S. Bay Road, just four miles south of the Monster Mile on Route 113, to see the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series haulers before they take off at 6 p.m. on a parade route through Downtown Dover. The event is free and open to the public.

Time: 2-2:45 p.m.

The entire field for the “Drive Sober 150” presented by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race will participate in a free autograph session prior to the race in the FanZone, just outside of Turn 4. Autographs are given on a first-come, first-served basis, and a limited number of wristbands to get in line will be distributed, so arrive early. Driver participation is subject to change.

Drive Sober 150” presented by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race

Time: 5 p.m.

Fans will get a glimpse into the future of the sport, as the drivers of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will take to the track for their season finale. With a title on the line, it’s a near guarantee that some of the most intense racing of the weekend will be on display. Plus the day will end with the crowning of a new series champion, a great kickoff to the weekend!

Ty Dillon appearance at Grotto Pizza, 102 Silicato Way, Milford

Time: 7 p.m.

“Dialed In with Claire B. Lang, live from the Monster Mile”

Time: 7-9 p.m.

Be part of a live, studio audience for the popular SiriusXM NASCAR Radio show “Dialed In with Claire B. Lang” Friday night of race weekend in the Rollins Center at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. NASCAR drivers Kyle Larson, AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Chase Elliott will join Lang throughout the evening to preview the weekend’s action. Admission is a $5 donation to USO Delaware in advance of the event. All proceeds benefit USO Delaware and you do not need to have race tickets for the weekend to attend. Tickets to attend the show must be purchased in advance as they will not be sold at the door. To purchase tickets, call 800-441-RACE or click here.

Open Track Session, featuring a FREE Q&A with NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Dylan Kwasniewski, hosted by Riki Rachtman.

Time: 8:30-9:30 a.m.

If you want to have the unique opportunity to walk the frontstretch of the Monster Mile, make sure you hit the Saturday morning Open Track Session. NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Dylan Kwasniewski will drop by for a Q&A, hosted by Riki Rachtman, at 9 a.m. on the stage near the start/finish line. The event is open to ticketholders for the Sept. 27 NASCAR Nationwide Series race, and fans should enter at Gate 18, presenting their race ticket, to get on the track. Upon exiting, be sure to have your ticket rescanned to permit entrance to the grandstands later in the day.

FREE NASCAR Nationwide Series autograph session, featuring Chase Elliott and Dylan Kwasniewski

Time: 10-11 a.m.

Young stars Chase Elliott and Dylan Kwasniewski will be joined by other drivers from the NASCAR Nationwide Series for a free autograph session in the FanZone, located just outside Turn 4 of the track. Autographs are given on a first-come, first-served basis, and a limited number of wristbands to get in line will be distributed, so arrive early.

Confirmed drivers include Justin Boston, Dakoda Armstrong, James Buescher, Blake Koch, Jamie Dick, Jeff Green, Joey Gase and Alex Bowman.

Tom Dixon Band on the Victory Plaza stage

Time: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Monster FunZone

Time: 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Located outside of Turn 4 near the Monster Monument, this popular, family friendly area provides free admission and loads of fun. Some attractions include racing simulators, face painting, prize drawings, moon bounces, show car displays, interactive games and rock climbing, just to name a few!

Times: 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

NASCAR Nationwide Series race

Time: 3:30 p.m.

This late-season clash in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will see championship hopefuls such as Chase Elliott, Regan Smith, Ty Dillon and others battling for precious points in the stretch run of the season. Mix in some NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regulars, and these drivers will surely have their work cut out for them if they want to collect a Monster trophy at day’s end.

Fireworks in Dover RV Lots

Time: 9 p.m.

A full day of fun at the track on Saturday will conclude with a fireworks display in the Monster Mile’s RV Lots. The show should be easily seen from most areas of the Monster Mile property.

Bobby Allison signs new “Dover International Speedway” book

Time: 9-10:30 a.m.

Seven-time Monster Mile winner Bobby Allison and author Chad Culver will participate in a book signing in Victory Plaza. Culver, this year, released his book “Dover International Speedway,” from Arcadia Publishing, a pictorial history of the Monster Mile from its beginnings to present day. Allison wrote the book’s foreword. While time permits, Allison and Culver will sign any purchased copies of the book. All proceeds from the sale of the $20 book will benefit Autism Delaware.

Race fans will have the opportunity to see a free concert from country music star Colt Ford, as he brings his unique blend of country music and hip-hop to the Dover race weekend in support of his most recent album, “Thanks for Listening.” Ford compares his unique style to the spoken-word songs of country greats like Tex Williams, Roger Miller, Johnny Cash and C.W. McCall, and is able to seamlessly blend the world of country music and hip-hop, noting the similarity in that both are focused on storytelling and real-life experiences.

The all-time NASCAR wins leader and seven-time Monster Mile winner Richard Petty will participate in a FREE question-and-answer session on the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza, hosted by Riki Rachtman.

Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Qualifying Event on the Victory Plaza stage

Time: 12:15 p.m.

AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race

Time: 2 p.m.

History will be made at the Monster Mile, as race No. 3 in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup at Dover now becomes the final race in the opening “Challenger Round” in the new playoff format. Sixteen drivers will enter with aspirations of advancing one step closer to a championship, but only 12 will leave with those hopes still intact. When the checkered flag flies, for four, it’s over in Dover. And you won’t want to miss it!
