Regan Smith set the speed to beat in Friday’s final practice for Saturday’s “5-hour ENERGY 200 benefiting Living Beyond Breast Cancer” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, which takes place Saturday at Dover International Speedway. His lap of 23.363 seconds was good for an average speed of 154.090 mph, a little less than a tenth of a second faster than Brian Scott and Joey Logano.
Austin Dillon was fourth-fastest as he enters the event in somewhat of a two-horse race for the points lead in the Nationwide series. Dillon is second, 15 poitns behind Sam Hornish, Jr. Hornish wasn’t too far back, running eighth-fastest.
Austin Bowman was fifth-quickest, followed by Kyle Busch, who was also one of the top practicers on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series side earlier in the day.
The Nationwide cars will be back out for qualifying just after noon on Saturday, and will take the green flag later in the day at 3:30 p.m.
