Throughout the Sept. 26-28, 2014 race weekend at Dover International Speedway, a big part of the fun in the event will be happening off the track, all around the property throughout the entire weekend.
And the best part about a lot of this fun…it’s free!
Sunday morning prior to the Sept. 28 “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, fans will be treated to a number of free activities, starting with a concert by country music star Colt Ford, who will bring his unique blend of country and hip hop to the Victory Plaza stage at 10:30 a.m.
Things don’t slow down after that, as NASCAR legend, Hall of Famer and seven-time Monster Mile winner Richard Petty is set to address fans in a free question-and-answer session from atop the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza, giving everyone the opportunity to hear from possibly the greatest driver of all time.
Get your appetites ready as things shift back to the Victory Plaza stage at 12:15 p.m. for the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Qualifying Event. The top male and female finishers in the event will advance to compete in next year’s Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4, 2015 in Coney Island section of Brooklyn, NY.
A number of NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers, led by young guns Chase Elliott and Dylan Kwasniewski, will participate in a free autograph session on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. in the FanZone. Autographs are on a first-come, first-served basis and driver participation is subject to change.
Later that night, as things begin to calm down on the property after the Saturday race, they’ll pick right back up again, as a free fireworks show will fire off from the RV lots. The show will be viewable from most locations on the property at 9 p.m.
The drivers of the future will kick off the weekend’s free events, as the entire field from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race will participate in an autograph session in the FanZone at 2 p.m., just hours before the Friday, Sept. 26 “Drive Sober 150” presented by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety race. This autograph session is also first-come, first-served with driver participation subject to change.
