Chris Buescher leads second practice session for NASCAR Nationwide Series race

Rookie Chris Buescher led the field in Friday’s Happy Hour for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race, turning a fastest lap of 154.825 mph on his second of 66 laps around Dover International Speedway.

Buescher jumped to the top of the charts after running 11th-fastest in the morning practice session, picking up more than 3 mph. He was a little more than a tenth of a second faster than Brendan Gaughan, who also made a leap from the morning session, going from sixth to second.

Gaughan had three teammates right behind him – Cale Conley in fourth, Ty Dillon in sixth and Brian Scott in eighth. Scott led the morning session with Conley right behind him.

Points leader Chase Elliott, who ran third fastest in the morning, was 10th in the afternoon session.

The flag drops on the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27.

A couple of Richard Childress Racing cars led the charge in Friday’s opening practice for the Sept. 27 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Dover International Speedway. Brian Scott was the fastest driver, running around the Monster Mile in 23.5 seconds for an average speed of 153.191 mph, nearly a full second faster than teammate Cale Conley, who was second at 152.478 mph.
