Race fans will be witness as the USO celebrates a record-breaking moment with its Every Moment Counts flag and a performance by the USO Show Troupe as part of the pre-race ceremonies for the Sunday, Sept. 28 “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway.
The 80-by-20-foot flag has more than 115,000 signatures on it, which were gathered by the USO to show support and thank troops and their families. The signatures, which come from supporters in all 50 states and seven countries, helped the USO achieve the Guiness World Record title for most signatures on a flag.
The USO’s Every Moment Counts flag will be suspended on cranes during pre-race, which begins at 1 p.m., while the USO Show Troupe performs the National Anthem to kick off the event, the third race and first-ever “knockout race” in the newly-formatted Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
In addition, the Golden Knights, the U.S. Army Parachute Team, will descend on the track during pre-race. The USO will also host a Military Village display in the FanZone, just outside Turn 4 of the track. The village is the largest military display of its kind.
NASCAR returns to Dover International Speedway Sept. 26-28 for the Sept. 28 “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, the Sept. 27 NASCAR Nationwide Series race and the Sept. 26 “Drive Sober 150” presented by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race.
