Singer, actor Trevor Jackson to perform national anthem on Sunday, May 15

UPDATE: Thursday, May 12, 7:25 p.m.: Due to an illness, Trevor Jackson will not be performing the national anthem on Sunday, May 15. Nashville recording artist Tom Dixon will be singing the national anthem prior to the “AAA 400 Drive for Autism” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. 

Trevor Jackson, Atlantic Records singer, songwriter, actor and dancer, will perform the national anthem before the green flag drops on the “AAA 400 Drive for Autism” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway on Sunday, May 15.

Jackson, 19, most recently starred on the second season of the critically acclaimed ABC drama “American Crime.” His previous television roles include stints on SyFy’s “Eureka,” CBS’ “Criminal Minds,” Disney Channel’s “Let It Shine,” and NBC’s “Harry’s Law.”

The Indiana native first drew praise for his performances with the traveling Tony Award-winning Broadway hit “The Lion King,” where he portrayed Young Simba for three years.

Recently named one of Ebony’s “25 Young Guns of Black Hollywood,” Jackson won a 2012 Young Artists Award in the category of “Best Performance in a TV Series – Guest Starring Young Actor 14-17” for his performance in “Harry’s Law.”

In 2015, Jackson released the mixtape “In My Feelings,” which he co-wrote with his older brother Ian. The mixtape has earned more than 1.8 million streams on SoundCloud and YouTube and includes the hits “Bang Bang” and “Simple As This.” Jackson will be releasing part II of the mixtape later this year. He recently went on tour with R&B artist, Tank, and will star in two films this year: “Juveniles” and “Sons 2 the Grave.”
