Music, flybys, parachute jumpers and a record-breaking flag will all be on display, plus so much more, in a salute to past and present United States military members during this year’s pre-race ceremonies for the Sunday, Sept. 28 “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as they will be treated to this military-centric pre-race with the likes of the USO Show Troupe’s rendition of the National Anthem; a flyby from the Bandit Flight Team that will pay homage to returning war veterans; and a drop-in from the Golden Knights, the U.S. Army’s official parachute demonstration team.
The USO Show Troupe will perform the National Anthem for the Sept. 28 “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
To top it all off, an 80-by-120-foot USO, Every Moment Counts, flag will be displayed on the backstretch of the track. It is especially notable in that this enormous flag holds a Guinness Book of World Record honor for most signatures on a flag, featuring 115,405 gathered digitally and in-person around the globe.
An American tradition that goes back 70 years, the USO Show Troupe performs live annually for more than 600,000 troops and their families. The troupe can be seen around the property throughout race weekend, culminating in their performance of the “Star Spangled Banner” to kick off the day’s race.
In conjunction with the National Anthem, the Bandit Flight Team will whiz over the grandstands flying two Russian Yakovlev Yak-52s, a Chinese CJ-6 and a U.S. RV-8. Flown by highly trained, experienced pilots, the team flies to preserve the military Warbird heritage and salute troops returning home from war.
The Bandit Flight Team will provide the flyby for the day’s race, honoring veterans returning home from war.
The entertainment kicks off well before that, however, as The Golden Knights will parachute onto the track, performing a coordinated, aerial demonstration that is sure to dazzle those in attendance. The team represents the finest soldiers and personifies Army values, showing the world the professionalism, precision and discipline of today’s modern U.S. Army.
These spectacles and so much more highlight the pre-race ceremonies for this year’s “AAA 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, the first-ever “knockout race” in the newly formatted Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The race a can’t-miss event; but fans won’t want to skip a second of pre-race either.
