Larson, Blaney lead “OneMain Financial 200” practice sessions

Kyle Larson led the field during Friday’s first practice session for the “OneMain Financial 200” NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash race at Dover International Speedway.

Larson, who is in second place in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point standings, turned a lap of 154.540 mph across the one-mile concrete oval in the No. 42 Chevrolet.

NASCAR XFINITY Series rookie Matt Tifft (No. 19 Toyota) was second at 154.361 mph, followed by Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regulars Ryan Blaney (No. 22 Ford, 154.030), Daniel Suarez (No. 18 Toyota, 153.721 mph) and NASCAR XFINITY Series points leader Elliott Sadler (No. 1 Chevrolet, 153.669 mph).

“It’s going to be another great weekend,” said Sadler, who is sponsored by OneMain Financial. “We’re going to have a bunch of people here for the ‘OneMain Financial 200’ and the weather will be great so it should be a great day.

“Our job this weekend is to try to win the [Dash 4 Cash] money.”

Blaney led Friday’s second session with a speed of 152.517 mph, with Larson (152.033 mph) second and Cole Custer (No. 00 Ford, 151.912 mph) third.

Rookie Spencer Gallagher and Joey Gase tangled in the backstretch during the first practice, bringing out a short red flag. Gallagher suffered heavy damage to his primary car during the incident.

The green flag for “OneMain Financial 200” NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash race is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
