Blaney, Jones lead XFINITY Series practice

Ryan Blaney and Erik Jones posted the top speeds in Friday’s first NASCAR XFINITY Series practice on Friday, one day before the “Use Your Melon. Drive Sober 200” playoff race on Saturday afternoon.

Blaney’s speed of 154.275 mph just beat out Jones’ top mark of 154.129 mph.

The “Use Your Melon. Drive Sober 200” is the second playoff race of the 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series postseason.

William Byron was the fastest playoff contender during practice, earning a speed of 153.951 mph, third best among all drivers.

Fellow playoff participant Justin Allgaier was just behind in fourth following a lap of 153.616 mph.

Friday’s second practice session begins at 2:30 p.m.
