If you weren’t here for the June 2-4, 2006 NASCAR races at the Monster Mile, you missed a fantastic and memorable weekend, capped off by an amazing finish to the big event, the Neighborhood Excellence 400 presented by Bank of America! With just three laps to go, Matt Kenseth passed Roush Racing teammate Jamie McMurray for the win. Who knows what is in store for fans this September?

The road to the championship goes through Dover, as the top drivers compete in the second stop of the 2006 Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup on September 24, 2006. Drivers and teams are forced to buckle down and focus on the intense challenges that the Monster Mile presents. The winner will be rewarded with the unique Monster trophy, hard-earned and much sought after points, and bragging rights for next year’s race.
The NASCAR Busch Series celebrates its 25th anniversary and shifts into high gear when the teams make their second 2006 visit to Dover International Speedway. With only six races remaining in the season, the Saturday, September 23 race at the Monster Mile always has a big impact on the final point standings. In June, it was Jeff Burton who tamed the Monster Mile, winning the StonebridgeRacing.com 200 by outlasting several other NASCAR NEXTEL Cup stars like Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Greg Biffle.
The newly named NASCAR Busch Series East (formerly Busch North Series) makes its Dover International Speedway debut on Friday, September 22, 2006. Although racing under a different name, teams and drivers are sure to bring the same brand of physical racing and aggressive finishes to the Monster Mile. The September 23, 2005 race was certainly one to remember — and one of the closest finishes in NASCAR Busch East Series history. Eventual 2005 champion Andy Santerre took advantage of a late red flag to catch up to a red-hot Ryan Moore, beating him to the finish line by a mere .002 seconds — or about 12 inches. What will be the end result this September?
More than just a race…
There are many options available at the Monster Mile to make your experience an unforgettable one!
