Yeley, Greg Biffle, Reed Sorenson, Martin Truex, Jr., Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace, Scott Wimmer, Jamie McMurray and Scott Riggs.
Harvick is the most interesting sub-plot in the closing races of the 2006 NASCAR season.
Harvick, who has enjoyed a commanding Series lead for much of the Busch season, could become the only driver to ever win championships in NASCAR’s top two divisions in the same year.
Harvick has had outstanding seasons from start to finish in both series this year. During the June race weekend at the Monster Mile, Harvick won the pole for the StonebridgeRacing.com 200 Busch Series event. Despite finishing the race 13th, he was still the Series points leader when the race was completed.
Harvick matched his Saturday success with an impressive showing during the Neighborhood Excellence 400 presented by Bank of America NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race on Sunday, June 4. Harvick improved from his fifth starting position to finish the race third, which was good for eighth place in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup.
Now the Chase field is set, and Harvick is still contending for both championships. He is still the dominant points leader in the Busch Series, and finished the regular season ranked third in the NEXTEL Cup Series. He is facing some fierce competition however, as both NEXTEL Cup rookie sensation Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch are also in the top-10 in both Series’ standings.
These circumstances, combined with the recent history at of suspenseful, close finishes at Dover, ensure fans of another unforgettable weekend at the Monster Mile!
