Six Philadelphia Eagles players gave their NASCAR ambitions a ride this afternoon on the high-banked concrete at Dover International Speedway.
David Akers, Sheldon Brown, Sean Considine, Omar Gaither, Lito Sheppard and Sav Rocca donned racing helmets and fire suits and attempted to tame the Monster Mile.
After learning the tricks of the trade from the staff of Monster Racing, the six Eagles jumped behind the wheel and battled to see who could claim bragging rights as the fastest Eagle to turn a lap at the Monster Mile. When the dust had settled, 6ft. 5in., 265 lbs. punter Sav Rocca claimed the top spot with a fast lap of 119.720 mph. Fellow kicker David Akers, the biggest NASCAR enthusiast on the squad, settled for second with a lap of 116.504 mph.
All six daringly cracked the 110 mph barrier.
The six also tested their strength and agility on the Dover Tire Challenger while four members of the Eagles cheerleading team entertained both fans and media in attendance.
