Although NASCAR has what is considered the shortest off season in all of professional sports, the consensus among race fans is that the two months of inactivity is much too long.
There are only a few things that can keep fans’ interest throughout the winter months, and of those is the announcement of paint schemes that teams and drivers will use in the upcoming season.
Three of those announcements came just this week.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Hendrick Motorsports unveiled which cars “Junior” will race at Dover in 2008 – the No. 88 Mountain Dew AMP/ National Guard Chevy in June and the No. 88 National Guard/ Mountain Dew AMP Chevy in Sept. Both are visually distinct –with primary sponsorship being occupied by Mountain Dew and the Nation Guard.
Two others, Kasey Kahne and Juan Pablo Montoya, also unveiled their 2008 paint scheme with Kahne in the No. 9 Budwesier Dodge and 2007 Raybestos Rookie of the Year Montoya in the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge.
