DOVER, Del. – Hulkamaniacs and NASCAR fans around the country rejoice.
Hulk Hogan, iconic professional wrestler and star of the VH1 reality show “Hogan Knows Best,” will serve as the Grand Marshal of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway on Sept. 24, 2006. Hogan will deliver “the most famous words in motorsports” before the start of the 1:10 p.m. race.
Hogan, 53, gained fame in the 1980s as a professional wrestler with the WWF, WCW and WWE. A multi-time champion, Hogan has amassed accolades both inside and outside the ring. He has headlined ten Wrestlemania events, and taken on all the greats — from Andre the Giant and the Iron Sheik to Triple H and The Rock.
He is the only wrestler ever to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and has starred in numerous major motion pictures, including “Rocky III” opposite Sylvester Stallone.
Hogan is still going strong today, making appearances in the ring as well as starring in the reality series “Hogan Knows Best,” which debuted in July 2005 as the highest rated show in VH1 history. The show, currently filming its third season, chronicles the Hogan family’s adventures.
Hogan’s daughter Brooke, 18, will perform the National Anthem before start of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race on Sunday.
The September 2006 race weekend includes the Sunday, Sept. 24 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race, the Saturday, Sept. 23 NASCAR Busch Series race, and the Friday, Sept. 22 NASCAR Busch East Series race.
