Press Release

Sept. 20, 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series race to be named the “Camping World RV Sales 200 supporting the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma”

DOVER, Del. – Dover International Speedway officials today announced a new title for the Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series race — the “Camping World RV Sales 200 supporting the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma.”

Camping World, the world’s largest retailer of recreational vehicles, is also the title sponsor of Dover’s Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, the “Camping World RV 400 presented by AAA.”

Dover’s partnership with Camping World will include a 6,400 sq. foot store in the newly developed FanZone display area at the Speedway on race weekend. The new store will feature a variety of products and services also offered at over 100 Camping World retail locations across the country.

“Adding the title sponsorship of the Nationwide race on Saturday completes what should be a very exciting weekend at the Monster Mile for the millions of outdoor enthusiasts who follow NASCAR,” said Kurt Hunt, director of motorsports for Camping World. “Saturday’s Camping World RV Sales 200, supporting the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma, fits nicely in between the NASCAR Camping World Series race on Friday, and the Camping World RV 400 presented by AAA,  on Sunday.”

At a press conference on July 30, 2008, the Richard Childress family announced plans for the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma. The new Institute, located in Winston-Salem, N.C., is a partnership with the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma will become the nation’s most comprehensive institute for pediatric trauma. The initial goals of the Institute are to increase national research and development of pediatric trauma treatments and the completion of a Level 1 Trauma Center at the facility.

“We’re honored to have a great partner like Camping World support the Childress Institute in such a public fashion,” said Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing and the driving force behind the Institute. “Camping World’s support will help raise awareness of the Institute’s goals and drive traffic to www.childresspediatrictrauma.org for education and fundraising.”

NASCAR returns to Dover International Speedway this September for three days of championship-fueled action including the Sept. 21, 2008 “Camping World RV 400 presented by AAA” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, the Sept. 20, 2008 “Camping World RV Sales 200 supporting the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma” NASCAR Nationwide Series race, and the Sept. 19, 2008 “Sunoco 150” NASCAR Camping World Series race.
