Track President Mike Tatoian’s Virtual Race Week Letter

April 27, 2020

Dover fans,

Hello again from the Monster Mile and welcome to our virtual race week!

As we continue the fight against COVID-19, we are reminded again and again of how the people of this state, region and nation come together to meet any crisis. The American spirit is shining as we have witnessed so many acts of care and compassion for our fellow citizens.

At Dover International Speedway that spirit has been on display in many areas. We’ve been busy:

  • Hosting food distribution mobile pantries with the Food Bank of Delaware the Delaware Department of Transportation and the Delaware Air National Guard serving nearly 5,000 families in need.
  • Providing a drive-through testing center for Bayhealth Medical Center, central Delaware’s largest health care provider, administering more than 2,200 tests to date.
  • Serving as a pick-up location for Personal Protective Equipment for Delaware’s front-line health care providers.
  • Lighting the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza blue as a show of support for all of our local heroes in the health care community.

All of us at the Monster Mile continue to wish the best for you and your families as we all follow the best practices advised by our local, state and national public health officials.

Of course, as the days become longer, spring begins to bloom and the air gets warmer, we are all longing to get back to our regular routines. For our staff at Dover, that means hosting America’s best racing series and providing countless hours of family entertainment and excitement during our annual NASCAR weekends.

We remain in constant communication with NASCAR as it organizes the remainder of the 2020 national series schedules, including the make-up dates for our postponed May 1-3 weekend. Through our social media channels, DoverSpeedway.com, our app and our administrative team, you will be kept up to speed on the latest news and developments.

To that end, we are looking forward to seeing cars on the concrete in the virtual world on Sunday, May 3, when Dover becomes the latest stop on NASCAR’s popular iRacing circuit with the “eNASCAR Finish Line 150.” Tune in at 1 p.m. ET on Fox, Fox Sports 1 or the Fox Sports app to see your favorite drivers battle for the checkered flag and follow us on social media and DoverSpeedway.com for the latest updates, events and schedules!

Once again, we can’t thank you enough for your patience and understanding as we move forward in this unusual reality. The thoughts of all of us at Dover International Speedway are with you and your families, as we all pray for everyone’s health and safe return to the track in the near future.

We’ll see you soon at the Monster Mile!
