General Tire 125 Qualifying: Mayer earns pole

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East points leader Sam Mayer was quickest in today’s qualifying session for the "General Tire 125" NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season finale at Dover International Speedway.

Mayer, who simply has to start the race in the No. 21 Chevrolet to clinch the series championship, turned a lap of 154.407 miles per hour across the high-banked, one-mile concrete oval.

Tanner Gray was second quickest (153.263 mph), followed by Drew Dollar (151.400 mph). Defending race champion Ruben Garcia Jr. was sixth quickest (148.374 mph).

The green flag drops shortly after 5 p.m. today.

The K&N Pro Series East track qualifying record is 157.143 mph by Harrison Burton, set on Oct. 5, 2018.
